What is Increment in chess?
Extra seconds added to a player's clock after each move.
For example, a 10+5 time control gives 10 minutes at the start, with 5 seconds added after each move. Increments help avoid losing on time in sharp endgames and are standard in most online and over-the-board rapid events.
