Roast Magnus on chess.com โWho is Magnus Carlsen?
Magnus Carlsen is a Norwegian grandmaster widely regarded as the greatest player of all time. He became World Champion in 2013 and held the title until he chose not to defend it in 2023. His classical rating peak of 2882 is the highest ever recorded.
Playing style
Carlsen is famous for winning 'equal' positions. Where most players agree a draw, he keeps playing, pressing in endgames until a small advantage becomes a full point. He plays almost any opening, prioritising a playable middlegame over memorised theory - which is exactly the mindset that helps beginners too.
