What is Good bishop in chess?

A bishop whose diagonals are not blocked by its own pawns.

A good bishop has open diagonals to use and can participate actively in the game. Keeping your own pawns off the same colour as your bishop - or finding ways to open the position - maximizes the bishop's value.
